On August 20, 2020, the 2020 China Methanol Industry Conference was held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. As a representative of coal chemical gasification technology, CHOREN was invited to participate. At the conference, Gu Zongqin, chairman of China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, said, "Since 2019, especially this year, the international situation has become complicated. The heavy blow to the world economy has greatly affected the methanol industry of China!"

The leaders of the meeting pointed out that promoting scientific and technological innovation has become one of the most important breakthrough means to get out of the current predicament and promote the sound development of the methanol industry. The application of advanced coal gasification technology as the core of the methanol plant plays a significant role. Driven by the new coal gasification technology, the large-scale level of coal-to-methanol conversion has been greatly improved into a highly efficient and clean technology. It has thus become an important pillar of the methanol industry, and an exhibits strong competitiveness in the market. In 2019, the national methanol production was 69.97 million tons, up 4.2% year on year. Among them, there are 78 coal methanol plants with a new advanced coal gasification technology and a production capacity of 55.68 million tons, accounting for 61.9% of the total production capacity and an increase of 12.1% year on year. Production at these plants reached 52.89 million tons, representing 75.6% of total production and an increase of 9.1% year-on-year.

As a representative of advanced coal gasification technology, CHOREN continues to optimize and upgrade technological research and development.
