Xinhua-Net, Berlin, Dec. 23: The 2020 Annual Meeting of the China- Germany R&D and Innovation Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance") was held online on Dec. 22. The Alliance presents awards to member units and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in 2020. Among the winners was the German CHOREN Industrietechnik GmbH. It was awarded the "International Cooperation Innovation Award".

Caused by the pandemic, the alliance's 2020 activities have been put online, and more than 10 high-quality activities with topics such as epidemic prevention, Sino-European cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, business operation, enterprise experience exchange, professional technology and other fields have been introduced online. Last year, the alliance built a China-Europe online cooperation and exchange platform, a Sino-Europe scientific research policy project information platform and a Sino-Germany technology cooperation information platform. Over the past year, members of the alliance have worked closely with German partners and achieved a series of successes in the field of scientific research and technology. As a member of the alliance, CHOREN will continue to fully participate and further integrate Sino-German scientific and technological innovation resources and build a Sino-German scientific and technological innovation cooperation bridge.

CHOREN is a high-tech company specializing in research and development, design, equipment manufacturing, construction and operation of entrained-flow gasification technologies. The CHOREN-CCG pulverized coal gasification process developed by the company is a world leader, offering the advantages of wide application range, high efficiency, compliance with high environmental standards and comparatively low investment. In the past two years, this process has gained more and more recognition in China's coal chemical industry. Currently under construction are the first phase of the 1.8 million tons/year ethylene glycol new materials coal-based demonstration project of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. and the 1.2 million tons/year coal-to-ethylene glycol project (the first phase of 400,000 tons) of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd. Both companies are applying the CHOREN-CCG® pulverized coal gasification process.

After entering the Chinese market, CHOREN has continuously increased its innovation and engineering service capabilities. During the "thirteenth five-year plan" phase, many improvements and innovations were made in equipment and technologies. Based on the daily coal input of 1,500 tons, the 2,000-ton and 3,000-ton reactor types were developed to meet the needs of the great development of China's coal chemical industry.

Since 2016, CHOREN has been conducting long-term research cooperation for coal quality and coal chemistry in Shanxi coal chemical industry. In this regard, the research cooperation focused on various pulverized coal gasification processes and under pressure. In 2019, CHOREN signed a cooperation agreement with SHAANXI coal group to jointly develop pulverized coal gasification together with high concentration of organic waste to achieve effective utilization, energy saving and emission reduction for highly concentrated organic waste liquids for coal chemical industry.

In order to better adapt to the upstream and downstream processes in the coal chemical industry while addressing the variety of challenges caused by coal types, CHOREN has recently developed the process design of 2,000 tons/day and 3,000 tons/day gasifiers. Development has also begun for a 5000 ton/day coal slurry gasifier. CHOREN is accelerating the process of localizing equipment manufacturing and has entered into cooperation agreements with Dongfang Electric Group, Dongfang Boiler Co., Ltd. and Xi'an Aerospace Power Co., Ltd. Both companies are characterized by high quality and adaptability, and thus CHOREN quickly achieved 100% localization of patented key components. Currently, the gasifier customized by Dongfang-Boiler for the first phase of the 1.8 million t/y ethylene glycol new feedstock utilization project of SHAANXI-Coal Group, has already been delivered to the site.
